About Ashapura Minechem

Ashapura Minechem Limited is India's largest bentonite mine owner and exporter and the world's third-largest bentonite producer. Its operations span more than 30 locations, from mine leases and processing plants to warehouses and port facilities, and every one of them depends on a wide supplier base for spares, consumables, services and logistics.

The challenge

Before SupplierX, supplier coordination at Ashapura ran on email and spreadsheets. New vendors were onboarded through weeks of back-and-forth, sending PAN, GST and bank documents as attachments that the central purchase team had to check by hand. Once a vendor was live, questions about purchase orders, goods receipts and payments came in by phone and email, pulling buyers away from sourcing work.

With more than 30 locations and a central purchase team, the volume of that coordination kept growing, and so did the risk of incomplete vendor records reaching SAP.

The solution

AeonX deployed SupplierX as Ashapura's single supplier collaboration portal, connected to its existing SAP system.

Self-service onboarding: suppliers register themselves, upload documents and track approval status without emailing the purchase team.

Digital verification: PAN, GST and compliance documents are validated through integrated KYC and GST services, with an internal approval workflow.

Real-time visibility: suppliers see their purchase orders, goods receipts and payment status as they change in SAP.

Supplier-facing documentation: Ashapura publishes a SupplierX supplier-registration manual so vendors can onboard without help.

Architecture

SupplierX is a multi-tenant SaaS platform: a Node.js/Express backend on AWS ECS with MySQL (RDS), Redis and Socket.IO, and a React front end with role-based permissions. It integrates with SAP over OData for vendors, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, service entry and invoices, with GST and KYC verification services, email ingestion and WhatsApp. An MCP server exposes SupplierX actions to AI agents.

Delivery timeline

Where Claude comes in

SupplierX has been in development since 2023. In 2026 AeonX used Claude Code to design and build AeonXIQ, the platform's agentic AI layer, along with a wave of enhancements: about 700 commits across the backend and frontend since 31 May 2026 are co-authored by Claude, and the team's Claude Code setup includes a dedicated reviewer agent for any change that touches financial postings.

In the running product, AeonXIQ uses Claude on Google Vertex AI for 17 advisory agents (among them a sourcing pipeline agent and an inbox triage agent), invoice vision OCR alongside AWS Textract, an accounts-payable reasoner, negotiation support and AI-assisted vendor rating. The agents recommend; people approve every award, send and posting.

What's next

Ashapura is extending its digital supply chain around SupplierX: Setu Move digitises mine-to-plant material movement and LogystiX runs outbound freight, both on the same SAP backbone. Next steps for SupplierX include deeper invoice automation and wider use of the AeonXIQ agents by the central purchase team.
